The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has finally suspended its strike after 8 months of shutting down public universities across the country.
Vanguard reports that a source at the ASUU National Executive Council meeting, held in Abuja on Thursday, October 14, and stretched into Friday, October 15, confirmed that the union voted for the strike to be suspended conditionally.
It was gathered that the meeting was held to review some of the recent development surrounding the strike, including the Court of Appeal order, which had directed the union to obey the judgment of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, before it can appeal the judgment.
The meeting had in attendance, all states and zonal branch executive members of the union. ASUU is expected to make an official statement regarding this any moment from now.
